DD is almost 9 pounds and the NB pockets we have (FB, BG, LilJoeys) are getting tight, especially around the legs. I tried switching to the one sized BG pockets that I have last night and they are so bulky on her, they look ridiculous!
Is she at a weird "in between stage" where neither will work right now? I'd hate to buy small perfect sized pockets if she will go through them quickly but it might be my only option since we want to stick with pockets or AIOs.
Also, with the bulkiness of the larger diapers, how do you fit pants over the dipes?

Re: One size pocket question
Maybe try Rumparooz until the others you have fit? They're cut much smaller than our other OS diapers. I have two shells (no inserts) for sale if you're interested in trying them out!
We really haven't had a problem fitting pants over the diapers. But if you are, I suggest getting some Baby Legs! They're great for summer, and the NB stage when you're changing a zillion diapers a day.

OS diapers are going to look bulky on a nb baby - it's enough diaper to fit a much larger baby so that's just the nature of the beast. If you want trim you'll have to go with sized diapers, especially for the newborn through pre-6m ages. We never had issues with stretchy cotton pants.
We used the small FB perfect size until around 4 months and DS's weight was always in the high percentiles so you should get plenty of use out of the FB smalls if you go that route.
Our Rumparooz OS no longer fit because they are definitely cut smaller than other OS pockets - the rise is visibly shorter (easily an inch) when set at rest next to a BG for example. Those may be less bulky than the other OS but still fit for quite some time. We retired them at around 8.5m.
I really like sized diapers in general.
Another option would be 2 sized diapers like Swaddlebee/Blueberry minis which go upto 15 lbs. This would help get you through the awkward stage.
