Anyone else waking up with splitting headaches?

The past 3 mornings I've woken up with awful headaches. I tend to get headaches anyway, and the weather has been really bad here (rainy) and has been driving my sinuses crazy. So it could be because of that... but I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing it too? I've noticed I've been really thirsty when I first wake up too, even though I've been drinking enough each day. Once I eat breakfast and drink a bit, the headaches do go away. Probably a combo of sinus pressure and dehydration, but man, they hurt!

Re: Anyone else waking up with splitting headaches?

  • Every morning I wake up the same way.  It has been getting worse as of late.  I always try to stretch in the morning.  I think I am sleeping funny and causing myself a little tension heacache.  I too wake up so thirsty.  I drink a glass of water when I get up to pee in the middle of the night because I wake up so dry.

  • Yeah I try to drink when I wake up in the middle of the night to pee, too. Sometimes I forget. Not fun at all- it just makes me have to pee more!

I do this, too. I find the nights I don't sip water when getting up to pee gives me the biggest headaches in the morning.

I got a prescription too but I am too scared to take it.  The on call OB gave it to me and I personally did not like him. I am seeing mine today and will talk to him about it.  The other guys did not seem to want to answer my questions which made me feel uncomfortable with taking it.

  • Meeee. As soon as I get up I chug water and head straight to breakfast. It's the only thing that seems to correct my poor headachey brain.

  • ha! I was just about to start a thread about this.

    EVERY DAY.

Do you live in the North East? The weather we've been having is with super low barometric pressure which can cause them too.

I think mine are prob tension headaches partially. Just finished school, work full time, etc. And my sinuses suck.

I am in NE PA and I have also had the headache for the past week of so.  I saw my OB/GYN on Wednesday and she said that the allergies this week were going to be awful.  She told me to take claritin for the time being and see if that helps.  I have been taking it for 2 days now and I feel 100% better.

Have you called your dr to see if there is anything you can do or take?

Hopefully you see some relief in the next couple of days.

That was happening to me for weeks and I was DYING!!  Quick question, not sure where you live  but are you sleeping with your windows open?  I always do and I stopped when my headaches got worse and I don't have them anymore.  I am a headachy person by nature but I think the allergies of what ever is flying around was making my headaches awful.  Just a suggestion but I hope you find some relief soon!

  • For the past few days I've been waking up with a massive headache and going to bed with one also. :(

I hardly ever get headaches so I'm thinking it's hormones. They start in the back of my neck. Plenty of water helps a lot but I sometimes take regular strength tylenol if the pain doesn't end. I didn't get out of my pj's or off of the couch yesterday though because it was so bad.

  • Pounding headaches are a sign of dehydration my ob said. I tend to have a headache for weeks at a time. When I was preg with my first child I had a headache for a month + and the ob was ready to send me to the nerologist. This time around I have been getting headaches like 2 days  or 3 in a row but thankfully they start to go away. Today I got one when I got home from work at 6pm
