My son loves to eat- but certain things, he won't feed himself. He will pick up anything like crackers or something dry. When I have given him ravioli or peaches or anything else like that that is slimy or wet, he will not touch it. If I put a bite on a spoon and give him the spoon- he takes it off with his hand and then put the spoon in his mouth. He will eat it off the spoon if I put it in his mouth or if I use my fingers. Any recommendations on this? I don't wanna feed him forever!
Also- he won't take a bite off anything- he tries to put the whole thing in his mouth. Will he just learn this with time or is there a trick to this too?

My Blog: Naturally Mindful
Yes it has been the case- at first I just thought he wasn't ready to feed himself so I've continued to do it. If I feed him he is not picky about temperature or texture- he eats anything (mashed potatoes, peaches, mandarin oranges, ravioli, mac and cheese, grilled cheese, yogurt, etc.) He does not seem to have any preferences of warm vs cold/cool. He will pick up and eat puffs/cheerios, raisins, the baby cookies, cheese, etc. I gave him a spoon once with a cup of applesauce and he just tried getting it all over and then started crying and freaking out when it was on him... we went to the tub and he was fine- I fed him the rest of the cup later and it was no problem. It doesn't seem to be the food itself, just touching it... hopefully it is a phase that he will outgrow -- and also we have fed him out of the high chair on occasions- my fiance generally gives him breakfast (yogurt/fruit cups) sitting on the couch because he is generally just getting home from work at that time. Ugh! Thanks for the suggestions- I will continue to try.
That is a good idea witht he crumbs. Thanks. He does eat cheese and has had pease that he's picked up by himself. There are more vegetables that I haven't tried and I will keep trying new things and the previously mentioned. Thanks everyone!
