VBAC

My VBAC story!

I rarely posted over here but was always a lurker, so hopefully you don't mind me sharing my story!!

Zoe Drew was born april 25th at 2:33 am weighing in at 6 lbs 11 oz.

contractions started at 2:30 pm, lasting 30-40 seconds every 6ish minutes. We ended up getting to the hospital around 7:30. Contractions were still short but only 2 mins apart. Being a VBAC patient my Dr wanted me to come in fairly early for monitoring. We walked the halls for an hour before they admitted me and contractions started coming every minute to minute and a half. I was still only 2 cm though.

around 11 pm I got an epidural. I was having intense back labor and was starting to get panicky about a repeat c/s, so I thought I needed something to calm me down. It was heavenly! Lol. But then I felt bad bc I had no way of actively working on getting her here :-(. Unfortunately the epi did stall labor quite a bit and I was stuck at 2-3 cm for a long time. They started oxytocin and contractions picked up a bit.

at 1:00 am I got up to pee, then the nurse checked me and said I was at 4-5 cm. At 1:30 my water finally broke and she decided to check me again. She just started laughing and said "I don't believe it but your fully dilated and I can feel her head! You're ready to push!". So in a matter of about 15 minutes I went from 4-5 to 10 & pushing!!! Even though i had the epi by this point a lot of it had worn off (i never pushed the button for more), so i was able to feel the contractions, when to push. 45 minutes later she was born & it was the most incredible experience!!! Overall it was an amazing & surreal experience and I'm so glad that I did it!! The recovery has been a breeze compared to my c-section and I just feel better, emotionally, about the whole experience.

for those still hoping to vbac I wish you all the best!!!
