Hi Ladies,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am usually on the CD board, but now that I'm preggers I'll be over here too!
After talking with my DR, she thinks I have a good chance of having a VBAC. HOWEVER, she also said that they won't let me go overdue (I was 5 days overdue with my DS), they will do an ultrasound beforehand to make sure baby isn't too big (my US with DS 2 days before I gave birth was est at 9.4 and he was 7.12) and they won't induce if I'm not dilated (wasn't dilated at all until I was in labor). So I hope and pray that I can at least go in to labor on my own (did with DS) and attempt a VBAC.
Looking forward to reading your success stories!!
Re: Intro-Hopeful VBAC Momma
Welcome! We try to inform and support each other and my following comments are meant to help you successfully VBAC if that's what you want.
Just as a heads up your OB doesn't sound very Pro-VBAC. If you truly want a VBAC I'd keep looking for one who won't put you on unnecessary timelines, or RCS due to as you know from your son a potentially erroneous weight estimate.
There is no reason not to go to 41 weeks if you have proper monitoring (NST and AFI) along with kick counts at home.
I'd also wonder what other roadblocks your OB will put up as it gets closer to your EDD.
I would strongly suggest checking out your local ICAN chapter and finding a truly supportive OB so you have the best possible chance of a Vbac. If that is truly impossible be prepared to say NO a lot as you get to your EDD and to use your right to refuse a C/S until you are comfortable that it is truly the right choice for you and your baby.
Welcome! And ditto that your OB doesn't sound very VBAC friendly. I would look into other options in your area.
