TTC after 35

Venting.. again..10dpiui - bfn :(

I know its still early but I typically have a 12-13 day LP, so I think that's why my bfp's show up on the early side. I've had alot of cramping this week and feel like crap, progesterone side effects suck it big time...how is it possible that 100mil spermies and 4 eggs couldn't connect at all, it makes this seem like a ridiculous waste of time.

DH has plans to go to a highschool lacrosse reunion m day weekend, I'm not very happy about him being gone for the whole weekend but I feel bad keeping him from doing something fun after all this not so fun stuff. We've discussed a few times and it's gotten a little weird. I dont' think he gets how emotional I'll be or why.

Thinking next steps, did any of you have to bring someone with you to your HSG? My RE office said you have to have someone there to take you home.. what's that all about? I'm not sure I want to know.

Re: Venting.. again..10dpiui - bfn :(

  • Sorry about the bfn. You know of course it's not official until/unless it repeats a couple of days from now, but I realize that's not much consolation at this point.

Alas there is nothing you can do about the reunion timing. Can you plan something fun for yourself, or enjoy wallowing? I admit, I sometimes enjoy wallowing (I'm and introvert).

RE: the HSG. My RE didn't suggest bringing someone to drive. You might, however, experience significant cramping for a couple of hours and want someone with you.

I hope 12dpIUI brings better news.

  • You are still early.  My fingers are crossed for you.

Regarding your HSG, my DH and I drove separately to my first one.  It was so painful that my DH had to hold down my shoulders.  We learned out lesson and he drove this last time.  I probably should have taken some painkillers pre-emptively.  I don't mean to alarm you.  I had some cramping afterwards but was able to work at home later.

  • Well we won't be driving since we're in the city, I was kind of hoping that meant they put you to sleep, but it doesn't sound like it :(

DH went in with you? I was kind of wondering if I should ask him to, but he's not really feeling super happy about the whole RE not trying naturally thing at the moment. I think if he see's me in pain he might completely freak..

  • I hate how life gets in the way of TTC and vice versa-- I hope your BFN turns into a BFP despite your feeling yucky and the lacrosse reunion weekend will be a happy occasion all around.

Regarding the HSG, I drove myself and didn't even consider bringing MH in-- the whole procedure, from parking my car until driving out of the garage, took a whopping 38 minutes only 7 of which were spent in a compromising position and a couple of which was painful.

Afterwards, yes, I got some pretty bad cramping, but apparently that's related to my Clomid and not the HSG.

I premedicated with 800 mg Ibuprofen. That may have helped.
