vacation without LO?

hey Ladies-

DH and I never went on a honeymoon. We've gone on many trips in our 5 years of marriage, but never alone. We have the opportunity to go on vacation to Punta Cana for a few days and MIL volunteered to watch our LO for us. I'm just so torn about leaving my DD and not seeing her for a few days.

DH is really pushing for the trip, but he's been away from DD for several days on business trips. This would be the first time I leave her overnight(besides my  postpartum hospitalization when she was 2 weeks old- and i cried the whole time).

Would you go?

Heck yeah I would! I find myself daydreaming about a few days away with just DH. If you're comfortable that MIL could handle DD for a few days then I say go for it. Yes you'll miss her but it will be such a great thing for you and DH.

  • We just did a week in Hawaii without LO and while I missed her it was really good to get away and just be us again... first two days were the hardest and I was excited to get back but I had such a great time!

  • Oh yeah!  We are taking a short weekend trip for our anniversary coming up in June without Chloe.  We did so last year as well.  It was tough leaving (I cried when I said goodbye) but it was wonderful to have time with just my hubby again.

    Thank you!

I am very confident that my DD will be in good hands. I know the time alone will be great for me and DH. Still, i know it will be so hard without my princess for a few days.  Also, there is a part of me that feels guilty for leaving my LO to go on vacation without her. Huh?

This is me too, we are going to Hershey, PA and I see so many things that she would enjoy...oh well, we can go back when she get's older.

Go. For. It! I mentioned on the "summer plans" post that I'm going by myself on a writers' residency for six days. I'm sure I'll miss Liam, but my job is paying for me to go stay somewhere alone and write. I'm totally excited because I need "me" time like this.

Don't let guilt keep you from doing things that help you stay sane, whether that's time alone with your SO or "you" time.

go. Yes, you are going to miss your LO, but your relationship w/ your H is also important. Bonus-it's in a tropical setting. You may regret your decision if you decline.

  • You should go. I didn't have a choice and left ds at home with the inlaws for 4 days for my c/s. I was a wreck, but I think it was good for us.
