Cloth Diapering

Rec. your fave Diaper

I know all babies are different, but I would like to register for some cloth diapers on my amazon registry. What do you recommend I try? Also any other recommendations of what you have gotten a lot of use out of and what is unnecessary.  Cloth wipes? Diaper Pail?  Feel free to enlighten me, this is my first baby and I have no friends who have used cloth diapers. I have watched some videos on Youtube but would love to hear from your personal experiences. Thanks!

  • I started out with a Jillian's Drawers diaper trial, which was awesome, and just used a trash bag to keep the diapers in until I knew I was ready to commit to CDs.  Then I got a flip top pail, 2 liners plus 2 hanging bags for the bathroom when I start spraying diapers when she starts solids. I recently started using cloth wipes (DIY), but still use disposable wipes sometimes.  I still need to get a couple of wet bags for the diaper bag.

My favorites from the diaper trial were Tots Bots Easy Fits, BumGenius 4.0s, and Rumparooz.  DD didn't fit these until she was 2+months.  We used disposables for those first weeks.  With the next kiddos, I may look into prefolds and covers for the early weeks.

    HTH!

  • Best Bottoms are my favorites. Hands down. For newborn, I loved Lil Joeys, but I had a preemie so they fit him for a long time. Rumparooz are awesome if you are spending someone else's money.

  • We are still in the newborn CD stage but I love our LilJoey's (Rumparooz makes them), Fuzzibunz and BumGenius so far.

  • Try a tots bots easy fit, they are great. I have tried so many diapers, and love some for sometimes and others for other times. My son was tall so RaRs sucked, my daughter was chubby so best bottoms were horrible...My pockets are great but now I hate stuffing.

I would try a BG 4.0, tots bots, BG elementals, FB medium (they are great from about 15 lbs up).

I got a Bummis kit that's sold on Amazon for about $170. It came with 24 prefolds, 6 covers, a wetbag, and a bunch of other odds and ends. IMO it's the most complete and easy way to start CD, though not the cheapest. Though I ended up adding newborn-size prefolds and covers, all the (slightly larger) infant stuff could have been used right from the beginning (LO was 8 lbs at birth).
