How were your twins positioned?

I'm 24 weeks today with our twins (yay - I finally feel like I hit a milestone!), but I'm just curious about how they are positioned.  My OB said she thinks they are stacked on top of one another since my bump is so big and if they were side-by-side, I would have a smaller bump.  How were your twins positioned and did that affect the movement you felt?  Right now, I only feel movement really low (like around my pantyline)... is this because I'm only 24 weeks or could it have something to do with how the babies are laying?  I think if they were side by side I would be able to tell who is kicking/feel more movement.  I will find out at my next ultraound in a couple weeks, but I'm just looking for some insight!

Re: How were your twins positioned?

  • I'll be 24 weeks on Saturday so I'm right there with you! My girls have always been side by side and they like to switch who's head down or up. Right now Baby A is on my left and head down and Baby B on my right and head up. I feel movement everywhere, and it's either on my left up high or my right down low. I feel Baby B more than A, but I'm not sure if it's because she's up higher or because she's bigger (had TTTS). I guess this is different for everyone. This is also by 3rd pregnancy, but 1st was a m/c.

  • At 24 weeks one was head down and the other was diagonal.

At 28 weeks they were both breech.

At 33 weeks they were both head down.

At 36.5 weeks, one was head down and the other was breech.

Breech baby kicks always made me feel like I was going to pee my pants. I also have a big fibroid near the cervix and kicking it was painful. Head down baby kicks made me feel like I couldn't breathe! Otherwise, they just wiggled around like aliens in there.

  • I have one transverse across the top and one head down but I'm not sure where her legs go. I feel movement everywhere. I can see movement now around and a little above my belly button. I also have a lump on each side of my belly button and I think that is baby b's body/butt.

  • Baby A was in an L shape with his head under my ribs on the left and his legs straight across the bottom.  Baby B was curled up inside the L on the right side.
  • I'm 23 weeks and they are side by side one head down and one breech.  Some days they are up high and some days they are down low or one of each.  I feel baby A on the Rt side most often.

A month ago during an ultrasound they were both breech.  I think they move around a lot.  I'm still not feeling consistant movement though.

Baby A was head up until he turned at 25w and stayed there.  Baby B was always head down.  I was able to deliver vaginally.

  • Both babies are head down and side by side.  Literally one is on the right and the other is on the left.  They are looking at each other.  I am carrying very small and most people are shocked when they hear I'm carrying twins so what your OB said makes sense.  Even though I am carrying small, the babies last growth scan showed one was 6lbs, 8oz and the other was 6lbs, 5oz.

  • Mine were close to stacked. As much as I hoped they'd move, they stayed put after 18 weeks. Baby A was on the bottom and breech. I always felt him a lot more. B was transverse (sort of diagonal). He made it so hard to breathe!

Of course, A is the more feisty of the two now, so it could have just been that he was more active.

  • Mine were somewhat on top of each other- A was vertex and always nestled down lower and B was pretty much always transverse in some fashion and up higher.
  • I always had u/s the same day as my OB appts so my OBs never had to guess. Mine were always side by side with A on the right, B on the left.

  • I am 26w5d and at my last US baby a was all the way on the bottom and baby b was sort of on top of baby a and sideways.I have a hard time telling which one is moving and it does seem that they are both on the left side of my stomach-with some motion towards the right.

    I hope that helps.

Mine were both head down until around 28 weeks when baby B became footling breech. I never felt much movement from baby A, but b's head was constantly up in my ribs :).

  • Both are head down now. Hoping they stay that way. They were both breach or transverse until 28weeks.

  • Our babies were both horizontal up until about 30 weeks.  The top baby I felt moving way more than the bottom, but I later found out that the placenta was low and to the left, and the bottom baby was facing my spine.  So when Baby A would move I would see it on the outside at the top and feel it more, when Baby B would move I would feel it more internally, like he was playing with my organs.  Super fun.  Now they are side by side and yours probably will flip also just because that is how there is the most room.  Mine are now one breech and one vertex but since A is the breech baby I will have to have a c-section.  I don't think they will flip around anymore, they are totally out of room! :)  Enjoy seeing them at your next ultrasound!
