I haven't really looked at it yet, but there must be a chapter at the beginning with "questions to ask your pregnant wife" (or lover as the book likes to call the partner/SO) because dh was hammering me with questions, rapid fire style, it was quite humorous.
WHATSYOURBIRTHPLAN?
DOYOUWANTBABYPLACEDONYOU?
DOYOUWANTANEPISTIOTOMY?? (he couldn't pronounce epistiotomy though so it took a bit to figure out WTF he was asking me).
So I was telling him some basics of the birth plan and mentioned "laboring at home as long as possible" and his eyes kinda bugged out of his head a bit. "wait...so a homebirth??"
probably a good thing he is reading this book and we are discussing it now We have a NB class next week too which will help I'm sure. All the details are kind of foreign to him at this point.

That's awesome! I love that book, you should absolutely read through it yourself as well.
My H is really funny right now - he's just finishing his EMT certification and after they learned about childbirth in class he came home with tons of questions. Mind you we've already had 1 kid & my MIL is a HB MW. His questions were more along the lines of - you don't have placenta prevaria right? And did you know about ectopic pregnancy? It was funny to see him interested about pregnancy in general, not just mine.
I agree! DH and I read this book together when I was pregnant with #2. We shared an account for our kindles so we could see each others notes and such which was really nice. It's a book I recommend to all my clients and buy for all my pregnant friends. It brings up things to discuss that perhaps you and DH may not have considered before and really lays out the labor and birthing process in a no nonsense sort of way.
