Baby Names

So stumped on boys names!

DH and I cannot agree on any names that we like.  He prefers simpler, more classic names like John and Luke, while I prefer a different style, like Evan, Owen, Silas, Colin, etc.

I might have him sold on the name Parker... the only thing I am hesitant on is that our last name ends in -er, too.  Is it too matchy to have the first name and last name both end in the -er sound?

  • I wouldn't use -er -er as a name set. Parker has been used frequently for girls so I don't know if that would affect your decision.

I like Owen & Silas the most.

  • My last name ends in -er and I can't think of any first names that end in -er that would work with it.

  • Eh, Peter Parker pulled it off. (That's Spiderman's name, right? DH would be embarrassed that I don't know for sure.)

In general though, I think it would work best if your last name isn't two syllables because then you'd have the same rhythm for each name.

But I want to say "Peter Parker picked a peck of pickled peppers." Haha.

Hmmm, given your tastes, would Lucas or Luca or even Lucien work? I would avoid the -er names.

I would absolutely avoid an -er name. I think Luke fits in with your list. I love Evan, Owen, Colin and Luke!

  • I don't think an -er name would be bad
