RSV???? Or am I panicking over nothing??

The other day, baby girl was running a fever. I thought nothing of it, because she's currently working on cutting 5 teeth. Then we noticed she sounded raspy when she cried. this morning, she woke up with green boogers caked to her nose. I couldn't even see inside her little nose. I used saline wipes to remove the boogers on the outside, and suctioned her nose. Everything coming out was thick & green. I plan on taking her to the doctor this morning....but everything I'm googling says RSV.or bronchitis (sp?) Anyone's LO ever have something similar to this?? She was exposed to her cousin who was pretty sick.

It could just be a sinus infection or nasty cold, but I would definitely take her in just in case. DD1 has only had thick, green snot once and it was a sinus infection.

My DD had this when she was 2.5 months.  Doc diagnosed her with bronchitis and said to watch out for RSV.  She was hospitalized for 1 day, only to make sure her breathing was good.  There really isn't anything they can do, besides breathing treatments and maybe some medicine.  I hope things go well for you, but defiantly get her to the Pedi.

Googling can cause some serious worries about nothing often. While I dare not try to diagnose your baby, know that RSV, while it can be very scary, is actually a pretty common infant illness. My son and his cousin were both sick at the same time, and I know his cousin had RSV (they went to the doc, we didn't). Biggest things you may want to watch for is difficulty breathing, blue around the mouth. Most infant illness' are often virus' though, so aside from waiting it out there isn't much treatment. Try a humidifier and/or steamy shower to help with the congestion. Hope she feels better soon!

I wouldn't freak out yet.  It could very easily be a bad cold.  My LO has had a few so far.  The fever could indicate that your LO has an ear infection.  Many ear infections are caused by the fluid that comes along with a cold.  Good Luck.

I got an appointment for her at 9am (about 40 minutes from now) so we'll know soon enough!

My baby had bronchiolitis, but she was wheezing and breathing with her tummy...she was coughing a lot but did not have a fever. Don't freak out.

This. DS has had RSV and a handful of other viruses over the last several months along with plenty of green snot. Don't freak yourself out too much and just wait to see what the doc says.  If it is a virus there isn't much they can do except let it run it's course and maybe prescribe breathing treatments if breathing is an issue. We were told that half of kids get RSV in year 0-1 and the other half of kids get it between 1-2. Given this, your LO will most likely get RSV at some point within the next 2 years...it is a rite of passage unfortunately.
