Carriers...

I'm thinking I'll eventually go with the Nordic when my baby is older, but for the newborn stage, I was thinking about a Moby, K'tan, or some other such carrier. Only thing is, I live in western OK, and it gets d@mned hot out here in the summer--easily triple digit temps--and even though she won't be here til early Sept, it stays hot til Oct, sometimes later.

What, in your opinion, is the coolest carrier for a newborn (in case I actually do feel like leaving the house)?

Re: Carriers...

  • I haven't tried the others but a moby would definitely be too hot for triple digits! It is getting warm for me at 70! Its great otherwise though. Maybe just to use around your air conditioned house?

That's what I was afraid of. It's already in the high 80's out here, so just looking at the moby made me sweat. Yeah, I'd definitely use it around the house, and honestly, from what I've heard, I don't really anticipate getting out much the first month or so, but I've always been a "just in case" type person. Maybe I'll use it as further excuse to just lounge around in the ac with the baby all day! lol

  • The moby was much too hot for me last summer with DS. The Ergo was more comfortable, but I plan on getting a K'tan for LO2.

  • I am new to the BWing game, but in doing some research for this summer (I am looking into a woven), I came across the Bali Baby Breeze and Bali Baby Stretch(not sure if these are the same). From what I understand, the Bali Baby Stretch is like a moby (a little different, but not much) but is much cooler. You might check that out as an option.

    Awesome, I'll check that out!

I'm still looking at the K'Tan, too...

BTW, I did look at the Bali Baby Breeze, and these look like a good fit for the heat! I also looked at the Ellaroo wraps and slings, and those look like good summertime options, too...
