An acquaintance of mine recently gave her daughter this name.

I'm not a fan of Payton for a girl so with the made up spelling it is compounded for me.  Am I out there in thinking this is a terrible name?  Just curious if people actually like it.  Obviously the parents must...it is just so beyond me though. 

I guess people really just have vastly different styles...

    I like Peyton spelled correctly on a boy...not a fan on a girl and especially not a fan when the spelling it butchered.

    I have a niece named Paityn & her name doesn't bother me, but the spelling does. I'd much prefer the other spellings.

    I (and pretty much this whole board) despise this name. Boy or girl. It's awful.

    But I'm fairly certain we're the only small haven of people who have any freaking sense, because I hear this name all.the.time.

    My brothers middle name is Peyton, it was my grandmothers maiden name, 30 years ago before it became popular.  I dont mind it as a middle.

    THIS!  and I hate when people take names and just make up these odd spellings!  It's like they want to torture their kid for life b/c they are ALWAYS going to have to spell it out for people!  How annoying!

    Definitely terrible.

    Peyton/Payton are bad enough. That spelling is ridiculous.

    that is the stupdest spelling I have ever seen.

    I have always liked Peyton for a boy but my husband has forbidden it due to Peyton Manning (He's a Pats fan....).  I still kinda like it but the more I say it I realize how hard it is to actually pronounce.

    That one reads like pie-tin to me, when I sound it out based on the way it's spelled. I'm not much of a fan of Payton or Peyton, but at least both of those are actual spellings.
