Trouble TTC

Can you get a Degree in Stupid??

Seriously...Why is it that people feel they are experts in conceiving because they have children?? I have had 2 incidents this week alone and its only Tuesday! A friend actually told me to chart my ovulation...Hmmmmm Why didn't I think of that over the last 2 years of TTC. OH yeah probably because I don't on my own. And a women  I passed outside the RE's office told me taking vitamins is a sure fire way to get pregnant. Wow, as if going to the RE is hard enough I need the hallway doctors input! Why do people feel the need to "Help" you when you don't even want it???

...and why do they like to twist the knife and share how quickly they got PG?

Agree 100%! I recently had one who got PG her first month trying, who told me to read TCOYF since I've been trying for a year with no success. Although I'm happy that at least she put in the effort to learn something, I'm offended that she thinks I'm "doing it wrong!" I told her I read it a year ago, and my being well-read wasn't going to fix my DH's sperm. She hasn't talked to me since :-P

Can we?  I might actually be more open about IF if there was recourse for the stupidity.

"Alright ma'am, I'm issuing you a citation for telling a person with a medical condition to just relax and it'll heal itself. Penalty is an apology, taking a seminar to educate your ignorant self about the reproductive system, and making an oath to never repeat your offense." I could get behind this.

OP - Unfortunately, these comments are the norm when dealing with IF, as I'm sure you've already noticed. People just don't understand it so they try to "fix" our problem by handing out useless advice. The ignorance surrounding IF is staggering and sad.

PS - I hope you don't think I'm rude, but I'm a bit of a nerd and things like this bother me. You e-card, while funny, has "comments" misspelled.

As soon as I read about those, I was thinking I could totally use a stack. Oddly, I hated English growing up. I was always a math geek (still am), but now I'm a huge fan of punctuation and spelling. It goes a long way. :)

Oh man, I need some of those!  I would have handed one to my sister yesterday when she told me she didn't want to proceed with a medical procedure she needs because she's pretty sure she'll have to be a surrogate for me since she gets pregnant so easily and obviously I can't.  I tried to explain to her that the fact that I don't ovulate doesn't mean I can't carry a child but she doesn't get it.

It sounds like we share a sister! Mine keeps offering, even now that she knows I've been able to conceive twice and especially since I only have one tube...

    Me: 25
Dx PCOS (June 2006, re-confirmed March 2012), Anemia (May 2010-Still fighting to correct it), Fibromyalgia (May 2011)
    Initial b/w - normal
HSG (March 2012) revealed right tube open and looking great. Left tube deformed with hydrosalpinx.
Lap (April 2012) Removal of left fallopian tube. Right tube open and viable, but "rather enlarged." NO evidence of endometriosis...Uterus looks beautiful and "very capable" of carrying a pregnancy!
    October 2012 - Clomid 50mg + trigger + IUI = BFN
With all factors taken into account, RE is recommending IVF. Planning on moving forward with treatment as a single woman using DS by Summer 2013.
