?s about Dexamethasone - UPDATED

1 - I have pills leftover from last year, the label on the prescription bottle says discard after 5/3/12 - would you still take them beyond this date?

2 - What time of day did you take your pill?  Did you take it with a meal or no?  There's no directions on the bottle besides, take 1 pill a day.

TIA!

Update: I bought new ones, I didn't want to risk anything.  Thanks for the feedback ladies!

  • HATED Dexamethasone.  I took it in the morning with food.  It upset my tummy, and it also can cause insomnia.

If it's covered, I'd get a new rx.  I don't know how much it costs OOP.

  • dex is a synthetic steroid. so i would take it in the morning with breakfast- but it depends on how you normally metabolize steroids.

i would not take any after expiration date...i used to all the time but two things stopped me: the first, I had a bad reaction to an expired med. and the second, my bff is a pharmacist and when i asked her she asked me, "would you drink expired milk?"  I don't think it's worth it.  I'd rather just know that what i'm taking is good.

no, for me it's $2 co-pay and it's not an If drug so should be covered

2 - What time of day did you take your pill?  Did you take it with a meal or no?  There's no directions on the bottle besides, take 1 pill a day.

first thing in the morning on full stomach, it gave me awful insomnia

    TIA!
