TTC After a Loss

Update hCG levels

My doctor called me today after my blood work from Saturday. He was unhappy with only a drop of a few points. I was at 171 and now only at 168. So he has me going for more blood work tomorrow, and then on thursday/friday. Hopefully they drop back down to zero soon. He said after they drop back down he wants to talk about doing some hormone testing to see whats going on.

Has anyone else had bleeding for so long with a m/c I think im like day 20 or so. It goes from spotting to bleeding then back again? Anyway just wish it would stop.

Re: Update hCG levels

  • I don't have any advice for you, but just wanted to offer my support.  It must be hard to have another constant reminder about your mc.

    Hope things return to normal soon!!

    PGAL/PAL welcome
  • I'm sorry your hCG is not going down properly Sad  With the sporadic bleeding it sounds like your body is trying to take care of it on its own.  With my first loss, the same happened to me.  My hCG would go down a bunch then next draw would only go down a couple points.  Back and forth.  It ended up taking 5 weeks for hCG that never got over 650 to get to 0.  I hope your doc is able to figure it out!

  • I bled for 4 weeks durig my m/c. My dr wasn't checking my hcg levels. I was only a couple weeks preg (too early to see anything on u/s). It was my 1st preg so it was my first m/c. I didn't call my dr bc I thought it was normal. I didn't know any better. But towards the end of the 4th week I finally called and he asked me to come in for a visit. He did another urine test to make sure I wans't still showing a +, when that came back neg he put me on Provera. I started my next cycle started 10 days later and everyhing is back to normal.  the constant bleeding had me worried but doc told me my body was just making sure it rid itself of any preg. evidence!

    Hope this helps and good luck!!

  • Im sorry they are not dropping well... i would ask for a sonogram to see if there is any tissue left.  I ended up needing a D&C after my m/c because there was still quite a bit left over. {{HUGS}}
