I'm interested to read responses. We have the Braun ear thermometer, that is about $40, and it's a POS. It never measures C's temperature consistently (ex. if you take her temp 3 times in a 1-minute period, it might say 103, 98, and 101). Thank goodness it was a gift!
We have a $10 American Red Cross under arm thermometer. My kids have small ears so the ear ones never work, even at the doc's office. It has been accurate every time as far as we can tell. I know a lot of people like the temporal ones, but my pedi office recommends against them as they don't feel they are accurate.
ETA: Ours can be frustrating because it isn't as quick as some out there. We considered getting the Vicks one, but friends said that they kept getting odd readings on it and that it ate batteries.
We have the Braun thermoscan. I like it. I think we got it at Target for around $20, but that was a few years ago. It is pretty consistent and is easy to use.

We use this and love it. I've taken my temp and LO's with it and it seems fairly accurate.
We also have a Vick's Digital Rectal just in case we question the other reading but have only used it once and it confirmed the other reading.
