Clomid & Monitoring Q

For those who have done clomid + IUI, what day did your RE begin monitoring? When we were TTC #1, he didn't start it until CD14, and we missed O twice. When he started monitoring on CD9, we got PG with DD. Now we are about to begin TTC #2 and my RE wants to begin monitoring on CD14 again, despite my history. Does CD14 sound late to begin monitoring? I'm thinking of asking to begin on CD12, at the minimum.

No experience with Clomid, but I just wanted to wish you good luck!!  It is your care the RE is responsible for, you should absolutely have input on how it goes. Considering your history, you should def insist on early monitoring.

We actually missed O during my post-coital because of timing. Do you know if your cycles have changed after #1?

Do you know if your cycles have changed after #1?

They have been pretty regular (looking at FF, they have been 28-33 days, with one random 23 day cycle). But I only started using OPKs for the last two months, so I'm not 100% sure of my O dates. A few months ago, I was diagnosed with subclinical hypothryroidism and put on Synthroid, and I had two really long (for me) cycles after I started the Synthroid. (I used an OPK on the second cycle and it was pos on CD 20). I was supposed to start clomid/IUI this cycle, and I questioned my RE about CD14 monitoring. He felt okay about it, especially because of my late Os and because I'm "only 35 and have time." But, then I decided to wait one more cycle (I didn't take the clomid), and I got a pos OPK on CD14, and now it's CD27 and I am spotting, so I'm pretty sure I O'd on CD14. So now I'm wondering if I should bug my RE again about starting my monitoring earlier.

I say go for it and bug him.

Having missed O twice, I would definitely insist on earlier monitoring. I'm Clomid + Timed Intercourse, and my RE usually starts monitoring me on CD8 or 10.

Going back (waaaaay back) about 2 years to when I last took Clomid I started it on CD3 night after b/w & u/s & went back after 3 days for monitoring, so on CD 6-7.  But that may have been because without any meds I "O" around CD 12-13 & they wanted to make sure I didn't "O" early.  Turns out with Clomid I did "O" early by a day or 2.

I start monitoring in CD10 and usually have the IUI on CD13-15. CD 14 seems late given your history. Definitely bug them!

My last RE started monitoring on cd 10. It was too early for me, my follies and lining weren't ready to trigger. I went back on cd 13 and things were 100% better.

This new RE had me come in cd 12 which I'm more comfortable with. I would say bug him for cd 12. 14 seems a little late to me....GL!

Thanks for the advice! I got AF today and I called the RE's office and basically begged for a CD12 u/s.

    CD9 or 10.

with Sydney I think we had IUI on CD11.  (I'd have to peek at my chart in sig for sure)

ETA:  Yep. CD11... which means we probably did our first monitoring CD8 or CD9.   Trigger would have been 9:30pm on CD9.
