posting pic in reply, not siggy?

How do I do this? I've figured out how to put pics in my signature, but it doesn't work when I just try to put one in a reply or thread. Is the code for a reply/thread different than the one for the signatures? I couldn't find an answer in the FAQs. TIA!

EDIT: nevermind. i'm an idiot. i just saw there's a whole other section for technical FAQs, not just general FAQs. my bad
