Just checking to see if anyone on here has made their own laundry detergent and been able to use it on their cloth diapers. The laundry soap I currently make has castile soap, borax, super washing soda, and baking soda in it. I read that you aren't supposed to use borax on cloth diapers, so I was wondering if anyone out there has had any luck with making and using their own laundry soap without any buildup or absorbency issues.
Thanks!
Re: Laundry Detergent- do you make your own?
I've used the Eco Friendly Family blog recipe - 2 parts washing soda, 2 parts borax, 1 part oxiclean. Rumor has it that actual soaps (like castille) cause build up and repelling. I had no particular problems with the EFF recipe, but I tried soap nuts and felt like things were cleaner, so now I'm mostly using those.
I have looked at the ingredients list of several cloth diaper specific detergents, and I find they're usually pretty similar to the EFF recipe - like the one I looked at today was washing soda, oxiclean, borax, and then a bit of coconut oil soap and fragrance. All listed by chemical name, but that's what it was.
