Any secret to having a boy?

I know it's super silly, but DH and I are going to start trying for #2.  We really want a boy, and DH has been doing a ton of internet research to see if there is any secrets to success out there. 

Any helpful hints ladies?

I know it sounds crazy but it worked for both DH and myself and friends who have a boy and a girl.   Both DH and our friend did a bunch of internet research about when to do the deed in regards to a woman's cycle.  It worked for us with our boy and it worked for our friends with having a boy first and a girl second.  

You have to track your ovulation and for a boy wait until the closest possible day for ovulation or even the day after ovulation to have sex.   They say that the sperm that will end up being a boy aren't able to survive a long time like the sperm that will end up being a girl, so a lot of them will die before they can reach the egg.   So the key is to make sure your egg is ready to go to try to ensure it will be reqched by a male sperm.

I'm not saying it's true, but it's def worth trying for because it worked for us and our friends!  We want a girl for the next one but I still haven't had AF so it will be hard to track like before with DS!

I don't have any REAL advice... but it seems like the chinese prediction calendar (when you use your age according to the chinese calendar) is better than 50/50. I also have a friends mom who is a L&D nurse and she says the "scientifically planned" babies are more often boys.  For example, charting. 

We didn't try for a boy, but the calendar and this nurse predicted boy, and thats what we have.  GL!

My niece and her husband very carefully (and somewhat fanatically) followed the Shettles Method trying to get a boy three times.  They now have three girls.

This! The male sperm are faster, female are slower. So if you want a girl, have sex a day or so before you O, boy have sex day of or after.

You can look into the Shettles method, but I wouldn't waste your time with it unless you are super fertile or don't care how long it takes to get KU, because technically you are decreasing the amount of sex in your fertile window, particularly for a boy and you need to have charting and expected O date down to a science.

I have heard this before to!

As far as the Chinese gender prediction chart, I have had 2 girls now, and the Chinese chart showed I should have had boys both times, so it never predicted correctly for me.

Interesting! I've never heard this before. I know we had sex the day I O'd, and we got a girl. Good luck, though!

Not sure what your financial situation is, but you can go to a place that "spins" the sperm and scoops out the lighter Y's which theoretically would rise to the top. Then only that (assumed to mostly be Y's, I'd imagine a few errant X's would still end up  in the mix) is placed inside you, heavily weighing the odds for XY in your favor.

I'm guessing it's pretty pricey.

Thanks everyone for the responses!  I think we will try the one method, been doing lots of research. we will see what happens!  It's worth a try!

This is absolutely fantastic. Now, when we find out if Mo is a boy or girl, you'll have to tell us that story too

No guarantees of course, but boy sperm should swim faster while girl sperm last longer. So for boys do it right at the peak of ovulation, for girls, a few days before ovulation. That said, the Chinese gender chart was right on for me both times, you can always give that a shot. :P

I guess Jager is the magic ingredient. I too drank a sh!t ton the night I got pregnant, and ended up with a boy.

I do science and we have one of those "spinners" in my lab....I don't know if it would work but it makes sense to me.  I have also heard the theory about male sperm being faster but dying sooner.  We were charting and DTD on my O date and still ended up with a girl....

Do you know many people who have done this? I find this fascinating.

A former boss had 2 girls and really wanted a boy. They did the spin. They now have 3 girls.

Nothing is 100% unless you do IVF and have an embryo biopsy to determine the sex.  Easily about $20,000, but microsort is the most accurate, and non-invasive way to choose the gender.
