Tips for drinking more water

I used to always be a water drinker, sipping all day all the time. Lately, there are days when I look back and realize that all I drank was an iced coffee (which I have now cut out of my diet again.)

Any tips on drinking more water? It's not the taste that bothers me, so I don't need to add flavor. I suppose I could just try to remember to always have a water bottle by my side. However, I know that you ladies will have more creative ideas. Looking forward to your suggestions.

Re: Tips for drinking more water

  • I needed to have it cold, so I got an ice maker, and put a fridge on the same floor as the bedroom. I also drink Aquafina as though I have stock in it. I think it has the best flavor. Throw bottles everywhere. Especially when I was pg, I literally never left the house without one, I was just so thirsty all the time. Take a bottle to bed with you too, I find I drink a LOT while I am getting ready for bed, reading, etc., and a lot when I first wake up.

FTR, I am impressed with your cutting out of iced coffee, because quite frankly, I don't know if I'd survive without it.

The taste doesn't bother me either, but I always drink more water when I add a fresh lemon slice or two!

Mohammed, and for some reason, drinking from a straw always makes drinking water more fun. I like the Camelbak water bottle because it has a straw.

I was just about to ask who exactly Mohammed is. Maybe that's what you are to name Mason's sibling? Like, she had a vision, and you are to birth a Mohammed.

Just laughed out loud at work. I am trying to look like I am hard at work charting, and here I am laughing.

I will probably be referring to your new little nugget as "Mo" from now on, just an FYI.

  • Lol-  must have been autocorrect :)

Like clineak- I also need a lemon in my water to consume more, and lots of ice. This while I was pregnant.. Now... Well I'm doing horribly, but a Starbucks 32oz bottle helps I just make myself drink one for example by noon etc. so, ice and lemon in a 32oz bottle are my tricks :)

AND you can drink coffee when pregnant just saying/ I know I did with Nick I had to.

.As for water I use to go through about 2 24 cases of Poland Spring a week on top of 5or so gallons of water a week. I switched to a Brita filter to save some money.  It took a while to adjust and it has to be cold to drink.

I like Poland Springs because its actual spring water mpst are just glorified filtered tap water.

I ONLY drink water after I finish my 5 8oz cups of coffee lol

But I always have water on me

  • Keep water everywhere.  I actually keep a case of bottled water in the back of my car in case we are out and about and I forget mine.  I also drink more out of a straw cup, in particular a leftover large McDonalds plastic soda cup.  No clue why, but it works for me.  If I find myself in a rut, I'll run out and buy a new water bottle and that will usually get me going again.  I also force myself to drink at least 32 ounces of water before I crack open my first soda of the day so that gets it in quickly as I feel waking up with Pepsi should be a daily occurance!

  • LOL at little Mohammed!!! "Mo"!

Anywho...Maybe it would help you to leave a little post-it note around here or there, especially by your front door, to remind you to take a water bottle out with you. And maybe in your bathroom where you will see it first thing in the morning, every time you pee (which is a lot these days I'm sure, or will be soon...;)) and before you go to bed. If you are like me, it is an issue of remembering to drink and then making time for it, this will help with one of those issues anyway.

Drinking from a straw always seems to help me, so I use those copo reusable cups. I fill them with water and then make sure the cup is always visable so it reminds me to drink.
