Wet dog smell

My little girl is a week old and I've only washed diapers twice and both times there's been a wet dog smell when they're wet. Once they're dried the smell is gone entirely. I'm worried that any smell is a sign of something I should fix before it goes bad. My diapers work perfectly so far, have only been exposed to soap when I boiled them with a little bit of dawn and washed several times afterward. What causes the wet dog smell? Should I be worried?

I was talking to my parents and they mentioned the idea of maybe it's just natural unbleached fibers being wet? Plausible?

First I would try doing a clean washer cycle on your washer. I get wet dog smell when the washer is kinda funky. If that doesn't help, try upping your detergent. Smell your other laundry when it's wet as well to see if it's the diapers or the washer.  Good luck! I'm sure it's nothing major after this short time.
