When to size up flips?

When did your LO move up to the medium rise? DS is 4.5mos and a little over 16lbs. He's quite slender though. How will I know when he needs to size up to medium?  The Velcro tabs always meet in the middle because he's so slender. Will it start leaking?

    It'll be pretty obvious.  You either won't be able to get it to fit correctly or it'll look like it's way too low in the front and you'll know to unsnap.

    I knew to size up when I was putting one on my LO (4.5m, 15.5lbs) and one of the buttons came unsnapped when I was pulling up the front, so I just went ahead and put it on the medium setting and it fit then.
