IVF #1 - Fail

Hi everyone... I didn't post here while I was stimming, but I am done with my first cycle of IVF; I did not make it to transfer On about day 8 of stims, my RE told me I would only have 2 viable follicles and gave us the choice of going forward with retreival or stopping the cycle. We talked about it and decided to go forward. They were only able to retreive one egg and it was unable to be fertilized. Soooo now we are waiting to start cycle #2. I know many people take more than one cycle, but it SUCKS, as I'm sure many of you know.

Also, why did 2 people on FB (3 if you count someone on DH's FB) decide to announce their pregnancies the day I found out my egg was unable to be fertilized? UGH It's not that I don't wish them well, but I want my turn *whines like a 3 year old*

We're sad but optimistic about round 2. My doctor said he knows he can "stimulate me better", which made me laugh a bit Anyhow, good luck to all the ladies who are currently in the middle of a cycle or post-transfer in the 2ww; and also to the ladies who are waiting to start their first or next cycle.... we'll get there!

I'm sorry for the failed cycle. I hope this next one has much better results and you get more eggs!

Sorry. Unfortunately, it's not at all uncommon for the first cycle to be more of a learning experience than anything. Your RE will make appropriate adjustments in light of what he now knows about how your body responds. Hope your wait til the next cycle goes fast!
