Finding out Genders?

I have my 16 week appointment in 2 weeks and they are not planning to find out the genders, they are telling me that we will find out at our 20 week appointment. When did ya'll find out ya'lls multiples genders?  Should I call them and ask if they can try and determine genders at my 16 week appointment.

Thanks!

Re: Finding out Genders?

  • I think I got some guesses at 16 weeks.  The earlier they are, the less accurate they are, and also it depends on what they're looking for.  If they're just doing measurements, some places don't want to take the time to check for genders.  However, if the tech sees something obvious, she'll probably tell you.

  • We found out one at 14 weeks and the other at 16weeks.  If you want to know the tech should be able to tell you provided the babies cooperate.  Baby B wouldn't show the goods which is why we found out at two different times.  Good luck!

  • They can give you a good guess at 16 weeks. I dont think you should call, just make it clear when you go that if they can tell you would really like to know. You are right there talking to them the whole time, so if you just let them know how excited you are, I'm sure they will do it for you.

The only thing they worry about with telling you early is being wrong, so if is completely obvious (like two little winkies), lol they will tell you, probably even print the pics for you. There is no real reason for them not to check while they are checking you anyway.

Good Luck :) Lot's of people find out early.

  • We waited until 20 weeks- I wanted my DH with me- all my other u/s I went to by myself since DH wanted to bank his time off.  I still asked the tech at later u/s to make sure they were still boys lol.

  • With my DD they told me at our 16 week appointment and it was pretty obvious.

  • We were told at 16 weeks and confirmed at 20.  The tech did warn us that sometimes girl parts are still kind of not totally internal then so a mistake can be made that early still.  Less likely but definitely possible.  Ours remained boys so far, with little question in subsequent ultrasounds :)

  • I was 15 weeks when we found out with the triplets.

  • I was 16 weeks and we found out they were boys.  The doctor told us not to go out buying all blue until at least the 18 week if not the 20, just to make sure.  But even now at 34 weeks, they are still boys!  You don't have to call and ask them though, you can mention it when you go to your appt.  Good luck! :)

  • 17w5d. It was very obvious that they were boys, but it was usually confirmed with no problems at all of my appointments thereafter. I'm sure they can guess at 16 weeks, but I wouldn't paint the nursery until you a confirmation closer to 20 weeks.

  • We just had our 16w appt and they guessed at the sexes.  One baby the tech had no problem guessing.  The other one had the tech guess one sex, then the other.  We are waiting for the 20w (or possible 18w) U/S to find out for sure.

  • We found out at 18 weeks so I'm not sure if 16 weeks is too early but if you are set to have an ultrasound anwyay I don't see why they couldn't at least give you a guess. I remember desperately wanting to know too!
