Natural Birth

Hi ladies!

Hi!  I'm new around here (obviously!) but planning a NB with a midwife at a hospital.  I am an RN and work at a small hospital with a L&D ward, but will be delivering at a different hospital about 40 mins away so I can continue to use my midwife.  I haven't announced the pg yet at work and I'm sure I'm going to catch hell for not delivering there but oh well.  Anyway, just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself-- looking forward to getting some good tips from you all!

Re: Hi ladies!

  • Hi and Welcome! I am also an RN and my coworkers / family / etc. think the plan is to deliver at the hospital where I work just like last time. I am actually planning a home birth with midwives but don't feel like my family and coworkers will be able to support my decision so they won't find out until after the fact. Do what you have to do, omit truths or downright lie if needed! Good luck with your goals.

  • I don't post frequently, but welcome! I'm a pediatrician and plan to deliver with a midwife at the natural birth friendly hospital in town. I haven't told my coworkers (especially in the NICU) that I'm not birthing at our hospital because I'm sure I'll catch hell. Of course if anything were to go not according to plan, such as preterm labor, I would switch plans. But I just use the excuse that I don't want my coworkers all up in my lady business if anyone finds out that I'm not delivering at our hospital.
  • Welcome and congratulations!
