Trouble TTC

PCO and TTC

Hello Ladies,

I'm new to the board and have recently found out that I have polycystic ovaries (about 20 per ovary) - but we are awaiting to see if I have polycystic ovarian syndrome (waiting for blood test results to come back).  I have my period every other month, but other than that I do not meet any other criteria for PCOS. We have been TTC for about 7 months now with no luck, and I am scared with polcystic ovaries I will not be able to have a baby, or that we will have to go on fertility medication, which I would like to avoid.  Does anyone have any reassuring stories for me? I've been really upset over this since we found out.

Re: PCO and TTC

  • Not necessarily a reassuring story, but hopefully some encouragement.  We have been TTC for 16 months and I was told I have PCOS.  I met with my RE for the first time 2 days ago and he'll be able to confirm or re-diagnose me as I have very irregular periods and have had a history of cysts.

Unfortunately I can't give you much advice until you know more details about your situation.  Have you spoken with your dr at all?  I think 7 months is too early to see an RE, but you may consider that as well if you're that concerned.

Welcome to the board and good luck!

  • Well, i tried unsuccessfully to get pg the first time for 16 months. Went to the RE and was dx'd with pcos. Started Metformin and Clomid and was lucky to conceive on the 2nd round. Needed clomid for my 2nd as well. I would go up to 154 b/w periods so there is hope....Really! Good luck.
  • I have PCOS with insulin resistance and I ovulate typically every 23 days which means my cycles are usually 37 days. Since starting Metformin my last 3 cycles I have ovulated day 16, 18, and 14 so it is helping me ovulate more regularly. It has helped me lose weight and my acne has gotten a little bit better. I don't have a real reassuring story since I haven't gotten pregnant yet but I am also dealing with MFI.
