TTC After a Loss

Clearblue Fertility Monitor

I have been thinking about getting one of these but I am not sure if it will really be any better then the Charting/OPK's I am using now. Does anyone else use one? Thoughts? I know they are expensive but honestly I do not care at this point!

Thanks in advance, I hope you all are having a wonderful Friday!

Re: Clearblue Fertility Monitor

  • I use one, but I use it in addition to charting and opks.  My RE says they are fine to use, but to not rely solely on them.  I was already using it prior to seeing the RE, so she said to continue using it but with different testing guidelines when using it with Clomid.

  • I just got one, and I know people who have had success with them.  So I'm hoping it will help - I do plan on continuing to chart as well.  The initial pack was a bit pricy, but I don't think the refills are too bad.  Best of luck!
  • I used one for about 6 months prior to seeing my RE.  I have PCOS, so it never registered positive for me.  I'm acutally thinking about selling it.  PM me if you're interested!

I used it when TTC our DS. We got pregnant in our 6th cycle (which was a cycle that I thought did not have great timing). We were not using OPKs or temping...just the monitor.

Fast forward 2 years to TTC #2. Charted, used OPKs (digital CBE) AND the monitor (since I already had it).

Come to find out that the the monitor gives me a PEAK the day AFTER I get a positive OPK.

Going by the OPKs and temping, we got pregnant the 2nd cycle trying (m/c at 7w5d) and then got pregnant again 2 months after the m/c. (ectopic discovered at 5w4d).

I am back to temping and OPK while we TTA until June. Haven't even turned on the monitor.

    Married 4/12/08 DS born 11/17/2009 via c-section at 39 weeks. 11/12/2011 BFP #2!! m/c 7w5d. 2/28/2012 BFP #3 Beta #1-12dpo = 18; Beta #2-16dpo = 185; Beta #3-18dpo = 505. EDD 11/10/2012. Ectopic discovered at 5w4d. D&C followed by methotrexate.
  • Thanks for the info ladies, sounds like maybe I should just ask my Dr. if he thinks it will be worth while for me. Cubskers I sent you a PM!

  • Temping works great for me to confirm ovulation, as I usually get a very clear shift. However, I have no CM to speak of, so it's almost impossible for me to predict O based on those. Back when we first started trying, I didn't know OPKs existed, so I got CBEFM, and it usually gives me 3-5 high days before peak, which is nice. My two peak days (it always gives you 2 peak days) usually fall on O-1 and O according to my temps.

Short story - for me it has been worth it so I have advance warning instead of just confirming O after the fact. Is it better than OPKs? Don't know, but I find it easy and convenient to use.
