Small prenatal instead of gummies

I just realized gummies don't have iron- I guess that's why they are so easy to take.  :)  All of my samples from the ob were huge!  Promise Prenatal is the only one I've seen that's super small and seems to have everything I need.  Has anyone else tried these?

Re: Small prenatal instead of gummies

  • Yea, they can't put Iron in the gummies because it would cause them to become extremely hard. I haven't had an issue with swallowing pills. I take the Target brand prenatal which says to compare to the Stuart Prentals. I don't think they are that big.

  • I take the gummies plus Slow Fe, which is a slow release iron.  This way it's much easier on my stomach.  Eta:  They're tiny.

  • I take these vitamins: Twinlab-Pre-Natal-Multi-Vitamin-Capsules

They are a normal sized and you take two a day instead of one monster pill.  I take one in the a.m. and one at night before bed.  They have 100% of the daily recommended value of iron.  I really like them!

  • My doc said (due to all the issues with m/s) that gummies were fine and had me work with a nutritionist to get the iron into my diet. As a general rule, Americans have too much iron in their diet anyway.

  • I take a children's chewable. I throw up a lot and it's all I can keep down.

  • That's a good idea to take the iron in a sep pill.  Here is the link to get Promise Prenatal if anyone is interested in a small capsule.  I've done really well on stage 1 for morning sickness.   Promiseprenatal.com

Gummy vitamins cannot contain iron because it is toxic to children in quantities that would be easy to consume if they mistook the vitamins for candy.  It states this on the packaging.

It doesn't make sense to me, though, since Flintstone vites contain iron, and they could be confused for candy, too.  Strange...

I'm not sure if your problem with the vitamins is actually swallowing the large pill, or the larger pill bothers your stomach more, but I found a really great enteric coated liquid capsule that is working well for me without bothering my stomach!  It does contain iron and DHA.  Of course I can't remember the name, but private message me if you're interested and I'll get it!

  • I take the Spring Valley prenatal. I buy it at Walmart & it's way cheaper there than walgreen's & elsewhere. It's around $4 for 100 count at wally world. It has iron in it along with the recommended daily amount of everything. It's a one a day & about the size of an Advil Liquigel capsule. It works great for me & I have a hard time swallowing larger pills.
