I've been thinking about you. Have you and your husband decided what you are going to do yet? Are you waiting to see how things progress with Uganda? Have you decided on whether or not you will switch paths?
We are currently waiting to hear back from our agency's lawyer in Nicaragua to see if they would be willing to move a court date for us (or waive the three months in country rule). If they're willing to do either of those things, I'm betting we'll adopt from Nicaragua. Still a little crazy and I'm still a little reticent because I'm not willing to invest emotionally in the country yet.
Of course, I've a little bit fallen in love with a baby on Reece's Rainbow and am trying to tow the line between being persuasive and being pushy with my husband.
I told DH that I want to have a plan by my birthday (next Sunday) because DANGIT I WANT TO KNOW BY MY BIRTHDAY! All my friends are getting pg again (okay, not allll but three of them have announced in the past two weeks I-kid-you-not) and I'm really jealous because our adding-to-our-family plans are still on hold. I don't mind processes being slow, but I am not one to sit on a decision like this for a month. dangit.
(and that's my update. I'd say I'm not this dramatic in real life, but who am I kidding? It doesn't help that my husband and I work with college students, either.)
Application approved Dec '11 Mar '12: Homestudy interrupted by change in Uganda requirements - where do we go from here? After searching and searching, back with Uganda but with our homestudy agency's program. Homestudy complete July 19 USCIS I-600A submitted July 20. Biometrics appointments arrived Aug 17; fingerprinted Aug 21; 171H received Sept 25th. On the wait list Oct 1st: #18. By Jan 25th, we're #13! Come home, baby A!
Oh, and thanks for thinking of us! I've been wanting to post, but since I didn't have any news, it would just be a cranky rant, (for said rant, see above).

Please! Venting is what this board is for. At least I hope so, because I sure expressed more than my fair share! Where else are people going to understand? <p> Does Nicaragua typically allow for such waivers? It's a beautiful country and we had a great time there, but it is certainly on of the poorest in the world. I've seen poverty all over the world, but Nicaragua was the poorest county we've ever been to, and that's saying something. If you do adopt from there, I wouldn't be surprised if you leave a huge chunk of your heart behind for the lovely country and its people.
I have no idea if Nicaragua (I keep wanting to shorten it to Nica bc all the college students are shortening everything nowadays, but apparently that's derogatory?) ever does things like that. If we do adopt from Nicaragua, it will be the first adoption in their program. But if we can adopt in the summer, DH can do an internship with the church in Managua that's in our association of churches.
And yes, I've heard Nicaragua is very poor; I'm a little nervous about how I will respond, as I've never been in close community with those who are very poor.
