I know of someone with this name but she is one of my grandmother's friends. I kind of like it to tell you the truth. And I really like Garnet Phillipa. I don't think that you would have to worry about having another one in the class.

I am on the fence. I like it (and see it as feminine - I am surprised how many male Garnet's pp's know!), but I don't love it. Garnet is my birthstone, and it always seemed to be lacking compared to the other birthstones that were either precious stones instead of semi-precious or just prettier. I think there are a lot of gemstone/nature names I'd like more than Garnet.
I like it. I really like old-fashioned gem names, like Ruby and Pearl. I think Garnet falls into this category.
Garnet Philippa (spelled this way) is lovely.
And no, I've never met anyone with this name that I'm aware of. If I have, they definitely weren't 5-and-under (probably the 80-and-over group, if at all).
Re: What do you think of...
I've seen Garnett as a last name, with a slightly different pronounciation than the gem.
Just a word of warning... When I read it on the computer, I saw Gamet" with an "m," instead of "rn." I'm thinking that I like Garrett better.
Edit: Oops, I thought it was a boy name. Really, really don't like Phillipa. How about Paulina or Penelope? Much more feminine.
not terrible, but i'm not sure i like it too much
How about Philippa Garnet? I think Ethan and Philippa are a good sibset.
I can't see Garnet working as a fn like other gem names. Sounds Hunger Games-ish to me.

I think its a bit harsh sounding for a girl name... Phillipa is cute tho
I thought it was for a boy when I first read it... I don't care for it much at all but definitely not for a girl.
Phillipa is pretty though.
I've never met anyone named Garnet. I don't care for it. I agree with another poster that it is very harsh sounding. Sorry.
I love Philippa. The nickname Pippa is so darling! I could definitely get behind Philippa Garnet.
Good luck!
I agree.

I like it. I like it more than I expected to.
I think Garnet sounds lovely, and I have a visual of a garnet and its color when I hear it.
