Yes, I am a SAHM right now. Yes, I am home most of the day. And yes, my kitchen is a giant mess. No, I don't care. Thank you. I would still hire a maid if we weren't cutting back on our budget to minimize our spending and maximize our savings. I hate cleaning.
A-MEN!
The cleaning and scrubbing can wait til tomorrow,
But children grow up, I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; dust go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep.

Yes! I choose to do things I value with my time, always have. Cleaning is not one of those things. I would rather have a messy house and a happy life. Lucky for me, I don't mind messes and really don't care all that much if people think my house is messy. I know it's not dirty - it's just cluttered. I take the comments and jokes in stride and invite those who comment to feel free to clean up while they are here.

2. DH and I have separate rooms. Well, my room is now the nursery, but we've always had separate rooms. We rent a 2 bed 1 bath cottage in a fantastic neighborhood. We're in talks with the owners (aka my mom and grandma) about buying it. Our first improvement to the place would be either an addition or some other arrangement to create a 3rd bedroom once DS is big enough to need his own room....all because we refuse to share a bedroom. It's not even on the table!
Out of curiosity, can I ask why?
Absolutely! I'll blame it partially on DH's insomnia and my annoying sleeping habits. I "mule kick" him (but actually that was on purpose to make him stop snoring) and "crocodile death roll" blankets away, so DH was always freezing. Before we moved in together, DH would spend the night, and he just had to have a movie playing to fall asleep. Well, I got real tired of waking up in the middle of the night to the sound of orcs (sp?) in Lord of the Rings.
Honestly though, I think the real reason is that we live together, go out together, used to be in law school together, and now work together. So not to sound cold, but I think we just both need some space at some point during the day.
