Some good news

Since the image of me trussed up while my kids use me as target practice for their Nerf guns and tromp through the house, eating gummy bears for dinner and watching R movies into the middle of the night seems to be floating in the minds of some posters...

I chatted with the principal last week, and middle SS just got the news that he will be in advanced math next year, working with the class one grade above him.  I'm very proud and happy for him, although he did tell me he'll be losing some of his free time since normally he gets to read or draw a lot during math as he finishes his work so quickly.

Re: Some good news

  • Woohoo! That's awesome.

  • I have always thought you seem like a great Mom. I just never understood why you cannot see that people going though really tough situations would have limits on what they can allow in their house and show some sympathy. Congrats to your son (and yes, I even think he is your son).

LJ hit the nail on the head. I think you are probably a great mom and likely a great person, but you have to be able to step out of your world and try to put yourself in someone else's shoes.
  • I'm happy for you & your son. I did not mean to imply that you are a bad mother or that you let your kids get away with everything. I don't even know you.

It just seems like you want the other posters here to roll over & let their kids/steps walk on them. That & the fact that you made it a religious stand is what I've been responding to - not your personal parenting skills.

    Congrats to your son.

Yep, I agree with this too. I hope I never have to go through what j+k goes through but I watch my ILs go through it with BIL. Hell the entire family has taken him in, us included and I ended up paying for quite a lot of porn he racked up but he left and refused to pay us back. He is no longer welcome anywhere due to drug issues/stealing and a bunch of other things and DH has a huuuuge family, plenty of houses, all with their doors closed to BIL. I hope I never have to deal with it with any of our kids but I totally understand why j+k cant do it anymore.

This was supposed to be funny, but thanks, ladies.

Gwen, we don't "know" each other, but I am interested in your story as I feel I've put a great deal of myself out there, and I'd like to know more about you, too.

  • it was pretty funny :-)

I'd happily tell you just about anything you want to know. I don't know how to pm here though... or I would have done that rather than hijacking other people's threads.

. I think I had the wrong idea about you for all of these years. We might be BFF's.
