I did a CD trial with a bunch of different options, and I ended up really liking the Grovia AI2 system, so when I saw it was on sale (old prints clearing out) I basically stocked up with the intention of using that as the main dipering system for my (giant) 10 week old son. I got a mix of the stay-dry inserts and the organic cotton,k and a mix of new and gently used.
During the trial leak I don't think I had a single leak. But now that I have dropped the $$, I seem to have leaks with almost every diaper change! He's on his 4th outfit of the day right now. OK, the last leak I can forgive bc he took a shockingly long nap (3 hours! Unheard of!) and I didn't wake him to change. Fair enough. And the poop leaks I don't mind because he has epic blowout no matter what and the CD blowouts are at least significantly better. But I don't know why he's soaked every time I change him.
I did NOT do the full "pre-wash x 6" prep that was recommended (washed 2 or 3 times), but I'm having these problems even on the used ones.
I thought about laying in a hemp doubler but the whole reason I liked the system was that it felt fairly trim and that kind of defeats the purpose. Maybe it will get better over time w more washings I suppose, but any ideas for me?
Thanks!
Re: Grovia AI2 leak problems
It's possible they weren't prepped right. Are the inserts always fully soaked?
I agree with the poop issues, DS's poop doesn't stay on the inserts, ever.
However, I've never had a leak with the organic inserts.
I'm a slacker when it comes to prepping too, so I won't hold it against you.
Grovia AI2s are my fav daytime diaper, so I hope you start feeling the love again soon.
