I just switched from Nutramigen to soy. I heard a lot of negative things about soy. I am wondering if anyone who has used soy can share their experience with it. Good or bad? Also, which brand did you use?
I had also heard a lot of negative things and was really hesitant to put my little one on soy. When I finally did he was like a different baby. He was MUCH happier and spit up a TON less!!! He also needed stuff for acid reflux but the soy was a big help. Before soy all he did was scream and fuss and I kept trying formula after formula including the nutramigen but nothing worked except for soy. I use the similac.
All of my babies were/are extreme vomitters. After switching to soy it cut down by AT LEAST HALF!!! Also had reflux issues. I can't say how much this helped!!!
DS was on Similac/isomil soy for months due to colic/upset tummy. It worked wonders, he was like a different baby after being on it for just a week.
The one downfall for us was he had constipation issues, constantly. He ended up having to be on a prune juice/water combo everyday for months and a stool softner daily to help. At times, in the begining before getting a regimen that worked we even had to give suppositories. Not fun, but he still was a happier baby all in all.
Soy turned my LO from a grumpy baby to a happy one. We were only supplementing with formula, but it was a HUGE change (I am lactose intolerant so my breastmilk has no lactose in it).
We are just now starting to introduce dairy, so if it goes well we can do whole milk at a year.
B was 3 months old when we went from Enfamil Newborn to Enfamil ProSoBee - it is a WORLD of difference on his diapers!!! He wasn't digesting the milk protein.
I just don't know what to do when he reaches a year old - soy milk? Soy toddler formula?
DD has been on soy since she was 11 days old. She does wonderful on it! She never digested regular formula well. She always had diahrrea (runny, streaky poo continuously) on regular formula. I was hesitant to switch to soy but we did and she digested it sooooo much better. We've never had any problems with it. She's been on Similac Soy.
