heart palpitations

Anybody else having heart palpitations?  I mentioned it to my doctor last time I was there & they said if its not frequent, its ok but to keep an eye on it.  Just curious if anyone else is having the same issue bc its driving me crazy!  Thanks!

Re: heart palpitations

  • I had them a month or so ago (gotten better since then), but I was told to go to the hospital to have it checked out. EKG came back fine and they took a lot of blood work and I was severely anemic and my doctor said that could have been what was causing them. So, I am now taking 2 iron pills a day (in addition to the iron in my prenatal vitamins). Whether it was that or something else I don't know, but I haven't had really bad episodes since then.

  • I have always had a thing where I could feel my heart skip a beat every once in a while. But it would just be one at a time. Now for the last couple of weeks I have been getting moments that last about 15 to 20 mins every several days or so where my heart skips several beats over and over. It makes me feel very anxious and like I am going to have a panic attack. I haven't told my doctor yet, just because I have so many other problems I keep forgetting. But I have never been diagnosed with anemia or anything like that, so I am not sure what is causing it.

  • I had them every time i laid down from about week 22-30... they would last at least half an hour if not until i managed to fall asleep. The doctors all said it was normal (and i had an echocardiogram AND electrocardiogram to confirm). It was distressing somewhat, but went away. Now i still get the occasional palpitation (of course still only when i lay down!!??) but not nearly as frequently as before. I never found anything that really releived it, so i am not much help - aside from just letting you know of one more woman out here in cyber-space that has had the same difficulty!

  • Thanks ladies!  I feel like all of a sudden without doing anything that should make my heart race it's pounding.  But as soon as i sit down for a minute it stops.  I'm going to mention it again at my next appt just bc I'm crazy but I appreciate the feedback!
