Another SS for me, because we were team green, so we really didn't know, and we had lists of options for each gender, but we did tell our options. My mom hated all our girl names, and used to suggest things like once she called and said "What about Helena?" lol. We had only 2 boys names because we found it so hard to agree, and when I told her his name she said "Oh well me and your aunt Grace really liked Brayden better"... well sorry mom (and aunt Grace), that's not his name!
We told people both our names. I had to write them down for the ILs and say them again and again until they finally got them. With this LO we will not be telling the sex to most people (my dad does not want to know) and we are for sure keeping the names a secret!
We did, and we got positive reactions all around. LO's name is Kellan Shane, and my dad especially loved it, apparently there was a football player back in the day named Kellen Winslow (and now his son plays I guess) who was a hall of famer and my dad is a big fan of his so he thought that was cool even tho it is spelled differently.

We weren't going to share but my MIL is insistent, for sure! My DH finally broke down and told her our top names for each sex, and from then on, she called the baby NinaMiles, which drove me nuts! I had to ask several times for her to stop. I can't say she ever did, haha.
We were going to use the mn Beatrice but my MIL pronounced it Beat-rizz so we changed. DH was sad b/c he LOVED that name, but I couldn't do it. I liked Bee-ahh-trissssss.
I do not want to share names at all next time. We were Team Green last time but we want to find out next time. I'd like to keep the sex between just us, but that would be kind of hard so we'll share that.

Yeah, we told. I knew we liked Lena and wouldn't change our minds no matter the reaction. As for boy names, we told people and then when I wasn't sure, I harassed people about what boy name we should choose. It was, of course, a moot point.
Oh, and as for reactions- Most people said they liked Lena a lot. The lone holdout (or at least the only person who said something to my face) was my grandma who said it sounded like an old lady's name. I replied that the old lady was once a baby too.
As for the boy names, we liked Jack, and a lot of the older relatives could not get past Jack being a nickname and not a "formal" name. But again, I didn't care. But then I got really worried about Jack getting too popular, and then one of our mutual friends who is quite immature kept using it vulgarly, so it is off the table if we ever have #2.
We did not tell. Since DS's name is "weird", we didn't want to hear people trying to talk us out of it. It wouldn't have changed our minds, but it would have annoyed us.
No we didn't... We weren't sure ourselves.. When my FIL found out.... In the room... He IMMEDIATELY decided he was going to call her Shelly.. Short for her middle name Michelle.. Yea what kind of crap is that
I wanted to add....the mn we ended up choosing is the same name as my step-grandpa's ex-wife. So....very far removed and I don't really care b/c I never will know her...but my grammy and step-grandpa are hung up on that name b/c of associations. I feel bad about it but can't really change it now. Ironically, another mn we were thinking of using is my grammy's mn...

We did tell a few people the girl's name to see if they liked it, but as a rule we weren't telling. We didn't tell our parents or the general public. It was the name we ended up using, and we LOVE it. Lots of people have complimented us on her name too, and my family was touched that her first name was my great grandma's name.

This was us as well. DD's name is Esther. I expected people not to like it, but I knew we wouldn't change our minds and if someone didn't like it, I didn't want them to try to convince us to pick something different. I was not expecting for people to say "Oh, what are you going to call her?" and one lady just decided to call her "Gracie" since her middle name is Grace. I knew some would not be so crazy about it, but I really can't tell you how many people asked what we would call her.
Re: CP-Did you tell people...
We were team green, so we told them our 'short list' for each sex.
MIL did not like my 1st place boy name and asked why we wouldn't use that one for the middle name.
We weren't going to share but my MIL is insistent, for sure! My DH finally broke down and told her our top names for each sex, and from then on, she called the baby NinaMiles, which drove me nuts! I had to ask several times for her to stop. I can't say she ever did, haha.
