I had my Lap follow up appointment today & went in with such enthusiasm and anticipation. My RE has a very thick accent and my husband didn't get all of the details post-op while I was in recovery. He knew (understood) that they removed a cyst that was endometriosis, as well as some adhesions, and that one of my tubes was "all twisted up".
Today I got the whole story right from the source. I do have Stage 2 Endo & I even got to see the cyst and adhesions in pictures from my surgery. That sounded weird, but I like that medical stuff. Then my Dr showed me my left tube which has a hydrosalpinx.
So, because of the endo and hydrosalpinx, he feels that our best course of action will be to do IVF. I asked about trying a few IUIs first because I really was not anticipating taking this step. He explained that my next step would be injects/IUI which puts me at higher risk of ectopic & if I had mature follies on my left side, they would cancel. So, all of the money we would put out for the injects would be for naught. I have already done some googling about hydrosalpinx & I'm wondering if any other ladies on here have/had one. It seems like there is some varying info about removing the affected tube. If anyone has any experience or info, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Logically I understand why IVF is the best course, but emotionally I'm a wreck. DH works a late shift tonight, but I did get to talk to him briefly & I fell apart. Looks like it'll be a June/July cycle for me since we have to get insurance in order & get me on lupron. This was longer than intended. Back to my moscato...

Hi there,
I'm new to the board, but I wanted to say that I feel your pain. I have above normal FSH and my RE suggested we go straight to IVF, too. I was a wreck for about a week and a half because I was not expecting such a giant step or grim prognosis. I started doing more research on IVF and I like that the statistics are better than IUI, so that gave me something positive to focus on. I'll be doing my IVF cycle in June/July with you. Best of luck.
