Infertility

***annalisel***

Hi!

I just got my TSH results back after 3 weeks on BCP and it had indeed raised to 2.64 from 2.15; not a big jump but enough that they increased my dosage from 75 to 100 and want to retest in 4 weeks.  I did ask them if I should expect to see a change being on BCP, and they didn't really reply, but they just said they would be keeping a close eye on my TSH levels. Sorry I don't have more information, but I wanted to make sure I shared what I could since I told you I would.

How is your thyroid stuff going?

Re: ***annalisel***

  • Thanks for the information! I'm glad your TSH level didn't rise very much and that they are on top of it.

I hope I didn't worry you too much about the bcps. I think part of my original issue was that I'd only been levothyroid for 5 months and it's possible my levels weren't stable and therefore more sensitive to disturbances.

My IVF cycle has been cancelled because of this. My TSH went up even further in a week! This is probably TMI, but may be useful for you. I needed I higher dose with the IVF hormones and in early pregnancy, but when my pregnancy ended, that dose was too high and they think my body started attacking my thyroid in order stop it from producing TH. The endocrinologist said that this isn't unusual after pregnancy (including successful ones) and estimated 3 months for everything to calm down. I just heard this yesterday and am still pretty upset.

Moral of the story. Stay on the doctors about monitoring your TSH level during all these hormonal changes. I was so upset about the non viable pregnancy I didn't ask and neither the RE nor my OB thought about this medication.

Thanks again! and good luck with your IVF cycle! I'll be backing off from thebump for awhile.

  • I am so so sorry your cycle was cancelled - I am all too familiar with canceling cycles due to high TSH levels. My numbers were all over the place for about the first year on Levo. It's happened to me 3 times already. Well it sounds like you will have a forced break so rest up and try to have some fun! I hope your levels get settled soon enough and you will be back in the saddle.

    Take good care of yourself.
