Thomas trains are so freaking expensive

I want to get my Godson a few but they are so expensive.  I have to buy for his birthday and Christmas (he's a Christmas Eve baby) and I don't want to spend more than $25 for each present.  I think I am going to buy 1 train for each and then something else.  I want to get the new talking ones which are $15 each or James and one other are $25...I feel like getting 1 small wooden train for a present looks so cheap and yet it's $25.

Luckily his sister is not into expensive things and I have her bought for, lol.

  • We didn't buy the Thomas brand for Christmas; we bought the Imaganiraum (spelling wrong) brand from TRU.  They were 10 dollars each and we bought them at buy 2 get 1 free then bought a Thomas rug with the track on the rug for 16.  So much cheeper than the alternative :)

  • I was going to suggest Michael's as well.  Between now and Christmas, I hope to go with a 40-50% coupon once or twice a week.

Last year we did a bunch of random gifts for Jackson - he's really into trains this year, so I decided I'd just stock up on trains.  He'll be thrilled, and it'll be easy (plus spread out the cost and use a coupon each time).  It'll go perfectly with the train table.  :)

  • Yeah, my friend bought him a non-Thomas train table for Christmas.  If it was for my DS I would buy any brand for I figured for Christmas I would get A the Thomas ones.  I just hate that I cannot get more for him but I do know he will like them.

  • Not all trains are interchangeable. That's why you do one brand or another. The same with tracks. Trust me, if his parents buy him Thomas then they will know first hand that you are not buying a cheap gift.  Add a little train whistle and you're set. Another thing Jack loves is his Thomas snack container. He loves to eat his cheddar bunnies and dried blueberries out of it. They are only abut $4.
  • They are so expensive, we are doing a train table and thomas stuff this year.  I'm trying to figure out how a small wooden train can cost so much!  We bought a few at toys rus full price then I got a lot on craigslist, 55 trains for 90.00!  I also picked up a few for 3.00 a piece at a yard sale.  We are kind of piecing things together for now, once we get closer to christmas we'll go to the store and buy what we need, until then I am looking for deals!
