What do you think of Chet?  Baby boy #3 is on the way. My husbands grandfather is Chester but goes by Chet. I love Chet but won't name him Chester but is Chet ok by itself?  He will be born very near the grandfathers 93rd bday. I already have a Maxwell and Simon. Thanks!!

I don't like it, it doesn't sound like a stand alone name, but I really dislike Chester (Chester the Molester is all I can think of).  Maybe just use it as a MN?

Hmmm, I don't have an opinion on this name. The first thing that popped in my head was the older brother from Weird Science. I like your sibset of Maxwell and Simon, they sound great together.

While I don't dislike it... it definitely isn't a stand-alone name IMO, it screams nn. I agree with pp, it would make a good mn, the meaning behind it is great!

I know a Chet, who's brother is Scott, and I've never really questioned it because I always just knew that was his name.

If Brett and Rhett are legit boys names, I think Chet is too!

Polling on the boards typically reflects the same information you could get by just looking at the name's popularity over the past 100 years.  So, you're not going to get a lot of positive feed back.

You and DH like Chet?  Put it on the birth certificate.

I know a Chet and sadly he is a semi-vagrant in my home town. The sound of the name doesn't work for me, plus that association.

I love Chet!

I know a Chet through my partner and he was the "best looking" through high school and was very popular.

He's a totally country boy though.

 

I actually love Chet alone. I don't like Chester.
