Trouble TTC

Book Suggestions

Anyone reading a book related to IF that you would want to share? For you and/or your DH? I read an article about "What He Can Expect When She's NOT Expecting" and thought about getting that for my DH. Disclaimer - DH is my rock, but it's still a hard situation to be in.

On another note - What book(s) are you reading right now that you love? I'm rereading The Hunger Games Trilogy after seeing the first movie and am going to move on to The Maze Runner afterwards.

Re: Book Suggestions

  • I read What He Can Expect....because it was a free download and I wanted to check it out before suggesting it to DH.  Good thing I didn't make DH read it because it was actually pretty infuriating.  The info is old (still calls IUI artificial insemination, etc) and he's kind of sexist (women need babies).  And the best part, despite having twins via a surrogate he says his wife relaxed after that and got pregnant on her own.

  • Oh and he was all "yeah we spent half a million dollars but it's cool, we're rich."

If you like Hunger Games, check out Divergent, it's great!

Wow! Thanks for letting me know before I spent the $!

  • I recently read Silent Sorority. I can't think of the author's name right now. She also has a blog that's pretty good.

  • I read Every drunken cheerleader why not me.  I liked the book because she went through IF and finally got a baby, so she totally gets what we are going through.

I had a hard time finding a physical book at several bookstores (it would take time to order and I couldn't wait!), so I ended up dowloading a e-book version and read it on my iphone Stick out tongue

I also read Sweet Grapes, but that's more about CFNBC. Still, I think if anyone is even considering what the various ends of a fertility journey would look like for them, I highly recommend it.

I just finished that one!  So good.  My Dad was 24 in 1958, so I imagined Jake interacting with people like him!

  • IF related I liked What to Do When You Can't Get Pregnant.  It was more medically oriented and explained all the different testing and options you have for treatment.  I learned a lot about IVF so I feel like I finally understand more of the posts on this board since I finally know what an ER and FET are.  I also really enjoyed Waiting For Daisy which was a memoir of a woman dealing with infertility.  She went through a lot and I thought it was a good and quick read.  I did not care for Every Drunken Cheerleader. I didn't think it was very well written and there was too much religion in her book for my taste.
