I just found out that my parents bought a life insurance policy for me when I was a baby. I had no clue about this until just a few minutes ago when the insurance guy called me.I guess my mom contacted the guy and give him my number.

Interesting. I guess they've continued paying the premiums for you so you never knew about it.

I recently saw a commercial for Gerber life insurance and was wondering if I should get the baby a policy.

You can never be too prepared!  Since DH is Military LO qualifies for $10,000 in life insurance through them.

I purchased a rider on my life insurance policy. I looked into Gerber Life, but did not think it was worth it as it is whole life insurance.

Check with your benefits through work.. I know I can purchase life insurance for my little one for just a $1 or $2 per pay for like $10,000 of coverage.

I agree with PP.  Put a rider on your existing policy to cover future child(ren).  It shouldn't cost much premium-wise and should cover $10,000, which is enough to pay for funeral expenses and perhaps if you need to take time off work.  Depressing thought, but better to be safe than sorry, right?
