Tattoo Celebrating Baby

I'm thinking of getting a tattoo to celebrate Pilar.  Because they are forever I've always taken years to decide what to do in the past.  What have you all seen that were great and what were failures?  I'm thinking from just her name and date of birth to a copy of her footprint(s).  DH is not a tattoo fan, but he accepted me with the two that I had before we met so he'll have to live with this one.

Re: Tattoo Celebrating Baby

  • Hubby and I want to get a tattoo for the baby too. I was thinking her birth date in roman numerals.. I don't know, it's a hard decision! I personally don't like the footprints, I think it looks kinda wierd.. DH wants something totally out of the blue- like he is thinking a dragon since she was born in the year of the dragon and maybe her name with it... So many options but we want to take our time deciding since they last forever :) we each have two other tattoos...

  • Now that we are done having kids, DH is getting a bar code that will read mine, his, DS and DD birthday.  I have a couple tattoos but in my old age, I am much more picky about what I want and think I am done with them.  I have one on my wrist that I hate and want to get covered into a sun so that will be my next/last thing done....maybe.

PS....I absolutely LOVE the name Pilar!  My mom is Puerto Rican (my dad German) but I was raised very American.  I would have loved to give my children latino names but I married the most white Irish guy....it would have been awkward - Guillermo McCormick - LOL.

Anyway, post a pic of your tat once you get it - it may inspire me!

  • I've seen a few people get the footprints made in to a butterfly which can sometimes look cool. I've always wanted a tat but never got around to it, so I'm interested in what others are doing.

My husband is about as white as you can get!  Not to mention Pilar is looking more like him than me.  I never expected to have a baby with light hair.  She may even be a red head which would be really cool, but DH says there are no red heads in his family.  I guess there are a lot in my family, four of my grandfathers siblings were red heads.  I heard it takes genes from both sides to get red heads.

  • After DD1 was born my husband got a tracing of her footprint with her name and DOB tattooed on his chest.  He plans to get another footprint or maybe handprint for DD2 as well.

  • Now that I'm done having kids, I will be getting a tattoo that represents all of my girls.  I still haven't decided what to do, so I might sit and think about it somemore.  I have two tattoos and would like more, but I want to make sure it's something I really want to wear the rest of my life.
