Save your snacking until after lo goes to bed. Dh and I usually have an ice cream night once a week, and I know how ds is with things like ice cream or cookies. He usually goes beserk after it's finished, and begs for more, so lately we've avoided giving him anything like that.
I won't lie, there are times (usually around af) that I can hardly wait until ds goes to bed so that we can break out the Coldstone and watch bad tv. ![]()
Re: Does anyone else...
Yes, this is how I unwind in the evenings. I put DD to bed, spend roughly a half hour to an hour cleaning up and getting things ready for the next day and then I veg on the couch with the remote and some junk food, lol! When DH is home, he joins me and either we watch TV together or one of us hogs the laptop while the other watches TV. On the evenings where I don't get this time, I find that I'm a lot more stressed out the next day.
However, I do give LO the occasional treat after dinner. She's pretty good about only wanting the portion I give her and we've learned that she'll eat a much better dinner if we promise her she can have a small treat after dinner. I actually bought a box on mini ice cream sandwhiches for this reason. They're the perfect size and seem to satisfy my daughter's evening sweet tooth. The reason I don't eat ice cream at the same time is because I don't want to share mine and DD feels she's entitled to mine, lol!

Every night!
Not that we're eating ice cream or treats every night, but I do look forward to the girls going to bed so we can eat what we want and watch what we want. I got into the habit of a 9 PM snack when I had GD and needed to eat before bed, and DH and I have made that snack and TV watching our time together. It's nice to eat that snack without little toddler fingers reaching in and trying to steal it :P We do give DD1 a treat after dinner once a week or so, though. She loves chocolate like her mama, and I do want to make sure we're teaching her how to enjoy "sometimes foods" in moderation, etc.

Lol, that's not to say we don't give ds any snacks. If we do, it's usually a graham cracker or maybe some animal crackers.
Glad I'm not alone in the Me time. I usually go to bed around 10, and leave for work at like 6 am. Usually, the only time I get to myself is from 8-830 to the time I go to bed every night.

I share my snacks and desserts with the kids.
As long as they've eaten a decent lunch dinner I don't mind that they have treats at all.
However, I do wish I could watch more TV without them
