3rd Trimester

Tommee Tippee vs. Avent Pacifiers

I am just barely reaching my 3rd trimester and I just started registering for my baby shower this past weekend. After spending a ton of time reading reviews I decided to go with the Tommee Tippee bottles. I would like to use the entire line, however the reviews for the pacifiers aren't as good as some others. I have read that the plastic portion of the pacifier is rather large and some people worry about it interfering with the baby's breathing. Other people of course love them.  My other questions is, if I stick with the Tommee Tippee bottles, can I use the Avent pacifiers? Or will this confuse my baby? I plan on going back to work after my maternity leave is up, so I am hoping for as easy as a transition as possile. Any advice and comments are greatly appreciated.

Re: Tommee Tippee vs. Avent Pacifiers

  • My LOs have always used all sorts of pacifiers with no problems.

I BF, so don't know if it would cause confusion with a bottle, but I figure that milk comes out of a bottle so shouldn't be too hard for baby to work out.

But some babies are very picky about what nipple they like. Some mums try lots of bottle nipples and pacifiers before they find one their baby likes. So I guess it just comes down to your baby as to whether they are picky or not.

  • Register for more than one name brand.  You don't need to go all in on one name brand.

  • There is no reason you have to stick with one brand. Your baby won't care one bit about the brand name. Babies can be picky. With dd(my third) we had to go through 4 different bottles to find one that worked. (she gets a bottle 1x a day). So register for different kinds. As far as the plastic part of the paci covering the mouth, all my kids have used mam pacifiers. The plastic part is big but doesn't interfere with breathing. All 3 of my kids have been bf as well and haven't had any problem using the paci. Take a deep breath and relax. Sometimes you can research too much.

  • Thank you everyone. I know I have a terrible habbit with overthinking things, ie. reasearching too much. LOL. I think I should probably register for a few different items and see what happens.
