New from the TTC Board

I thought maybe I would find a better support coming to this board. Hope you'll have me??

My husband and I have been trying for about a year now. We were just referred to a RE and had our first appointment today. I thought going to the RE today would put my mind at ease. Didn't happen. If anything I'm more scared, anxious, and frustrated. He developed a plan which involved a series of tests for my hubby and I.
Primarily me. He wanted me to start Clomid right away which I thought was a little early. I'm scheduled to have an HSG test, TSH, and PRLK. He wrote all this down and now I'm realizing I have no idea what the last two stand for.

So...I guess here is where our journey really begins. Oh joy! Anyone have any insight or guidance during this process? I dont really know what to expect.

Hello and welcome to the board! We have all been where you are right now, the beginning is definitely overwhelming with all the tests and medications and appointments, but you will eventually come to know what to expect. I can't say this journey gets any easier, but at least you get familiar with it so it isn't so overwhelming. Good luck as you move forward!

Hi there! I am new also, been lurking around for a couples days. Im sure all RE have their own way of doing things, but most I thought did testing first. Biggest advice is dont give up. Me and DH have been trying for 2 years and are both in our mid 30s. I have learned alot already from others on here. Sometimes its refreshing to here things from others going through our issues and not just medical people. Good Luck and I hope you stay here is a quick one!!

My best advice for you is to not start any medicated cycles until you have had all of the proper testing done!!! Those Clomid cycles are precious so don't waste them without trying to find out whats going on first! Good luck and sorry you haveto be here!

Hi! I am also new here, I am starting my first Clomid cycle w/ a trigger shot (after 3 years not preventing, 1 year serious effort) in about 2 weeks unless I somehow wind up with a BFP or DH's SA turns up an issue (hopefully we will get those results tomorrow). I've already gotten a lot of great info here. My RE would not start me on Clomid until both DH and I completed all of our testing.  

Although I am new to this part of the journey too, I can relate to the anxieties and frustrations you have.  You are not going through this alone  Good Luck!

Welcome!  I am also new here, and we have also been trying for about a year. I had my first RE appt 2 weeks ago.  I also have to have an HSG test, and we are waiting on my husband's SA.  They told me at the RE appt that the likely recommendation would be Clomid and injections, possibly with IUI but they wanted to wait for all the testing to be done first.  Sorry I don't really have much advice since I am new to all of this as well, but we can begin the journey together!

Welcome! Do your research and become familiar with the terminology your RE uses even if you have to write it down when she/he says it and look it up later. Ask plenty of questions....even if you have to call your nurse or doctor back a few times. Become your own advocate and educate yourself. I've found that the more research I do, the less overwhelmed I feel.
