Lately my DD will not let me brush her bottom front teeth. She flicks her tongue and does everything to avoid getting them brushed. This freaks me out because I can see that nasty white buildup. Anyone have suggestions? I even make faces with her to show her how to let me brush, I let her brush. I am just sad!
Re: Brushing bottom front teeth
DD was doing this and my mom said that due to her teething her mouth may just be sensitive, she was getting molars. For a few days I switched back to the baby finger toothbrush and she was fine with it I guess because it was not hurting her, I normally start in back and work to front. Once she seemed to not be teething anymore I switched back and all seems to be well again.
Make it a fun game. DD and I sit on the floor, and she puts her head in my lap (she's 2 and 3 months) and the toothbrush "talks to her" if she's not cooperating - you know "hey let me see those teeth, oohhh tastes like a cookie!" (or whatever else she's eaten that day) Our toothbrush also likes to say "don't bite me, ouch I don't like it when you do that, I like to see those chompers!" Just be as goofy as possible.
If that fails, then you can gently grab her bottom lip to roll it back and that usually messes with there reflex just enough to get the toothbrush in there quickly.
But, I would also suggest taking her to a dentist to have a check-up and they can get the build up off her teeth, if you haven't made an appointment already.
Good Luck.
